Should an Intelligent Free-Willed Robot Be:

When Sir was saying goodbye to Andrew on the first night, Andrew failed the turing test. He heard the words goodbye but did not know how to respond to it. Before falling out of the window, we can see that Andrew failed the turing tests. He was still learning and did not know how to communicate intelligently yet. After he fell out of the window he started getting smarter and being more human like. He started passing some turing test and showing intelllligence traits. Robots aren’t really intelligent like humans because they still can’t fully think and act like a human.

In the movie, Bicentennial Man, the robot, Andrew Martin, becomes an intelligent free-willed robot. He should be considered alive, because he have feelings and thoughts just like human beings, so he should be consider alive and treated like humans. He has his own wills and knows what he wants to do, and make his own decisions. In the movie, Andrew falls in love with Portia, showing that he has emotions and the ability to fall in love. Sir and Little Miss consider Andrew to be alive but Dennis and Amanda consider him a machine.

I think its okay for them to be owned because they won’t have anywhere to go. It won’t be a type of slavery but a friend that helps you out when you need help. They shouldn’t be out wondering around on its own, because they don’t know how the outside world is. Andrew becomes more human like and asks Sir if he can be free. He starts living on his own and later builds his own house on a beach near their house, hoping to live near them so he can serve them anytime. Sir and Little Miss believe that Andrew should have freedom and therefore set him free.

Robots should not be able to marry humans because they are machines, no matter how much they act and look like humans. They can’t contribute to the gene pool and be able to have children, causing our population to drop. In the movie, Andrew tries to marry Portia. The world government allows them to marry at the end of the movie, considering him to be human.

Robots should not be considered completely equal to humans because they don’t have a flaw. They can’t age or die and they can’t have babies, causing the world’s population to decrease. Although they can be intelligent and have their own free-will, they shouldn’t be consider equal to humans. In the movie, Andrew changes all his organs, skin, and puts human blood into his body hoping to make him more human like. He started aging and dying but he is still not completely equal to human. Andrew doesn’t have his own pair of genes so he can’t pass on his genes to future generations. The movie at the end considers him to be equal to human.

AI can be a good thing for humanity, like Bicentennial Man. In Bicentennial man, we can see Andrew and robots helping us do our chores and housework. They can be our companion and help look out for us when we are in trouble or in danger. Robots can help us develop more new technology and discoveries. The movie thinks AI is good because they use AI to help them do house works and jobs.
